Helena Bonham Carter

Helena Bonham Carter is an English film, stage, and television actress who has gained international popularity. Carter made her film debut in K.M. Peyton's A Pattern of Roses before going on to win her first leading role as the titular character in the movie Lady Jane. She is most famous for her roles in A Room with a View, Fight Club and Harry Potter (my favorite of hers), as well as for frequently collaborating with director Tim Burton her domestic partner since 2001. Bonham Carter is a two-time Academy Award nominee for her performances in The Wings of the Dove and The King's Speech; her portrayal of Queen Elizabeth in the latter film garnering her a BAFTA Award in 2011. I haven't seen The King's Speech, but having won Best Picture and other views, it is worth seeing. Carter is also is a favorite of mine. Her dark, daring and bold acting style and recent notation for her outlandish fashion style is what makes her such an interesting person. She originally caught my attention after I saw her in Harry Potter. Another intriguing, attention seeking moment was what she wore at the 2011 Golden Globes.

This was the first of her movies I saw, and from it, she instantly interested me.

I asked my friend what the first words that came to mind when she looked at the picture above, and she said mysterious and edgy. Those two words certainly describe her well. Edgy seems to be the perfect word to describe her style. Carter has become a fashion icon, noted for her unique style. Over the years, her fashion style she has created has been taken note of. Who has taken note? (Besides the public?) Vanity Fair. She made the 2010 Vanity Fair Best Dressed List. Her response? She was shocked. When she was informed about it, she laughed. She thought it was a joke.
