Gaga in all GUCCI at the Pre-Grammy Award Show
Fiery-haired powerhouse Florence Welch has collected some spotlight control not only because of her powerful and distinct voice, but also for her ethereal and vintage-inspired (with a touch of bohemian) style. Or, as Florence puts it "half gothic bat crow winged fantasy, half golden '70s Stevie Nicks white witch. And a smattering of disco go-go hotpants." BUT, as luck would have it, Gucci's creative director Frida Giannini met Florence at this year's Grammys and was so "captivated by her presence" that she deemed her the inspiration for the autumn/winter 2011 campaign. Frida said Florence "has a powerful personality and an entrancing quality to her performances. She also has that confident and self-assured look that goes hand in hand with the Gucci woman." So, there it is. Florence for GUCCI. I am so excited to see where Florence leads GUCCI.
Florence on her own style:
`Spending time rummaging through vintage stores and charity shops as well as looking to high design, Florence mixes it up like it’s no one’s business -vintage skirt here, Chanel necklace there. Listing style icons such as Stevie Nicks and Annie Hall, Welch describes her style in terms of phases. Sometimes it’s a “little old lady phase” then she will experiment with the punk look and she has also gone through preppy and gothic style bouts. It’s clear that Welch is a highly creative individual and putting outfits together is just another way for her to express that creativity
