Gaga ditched the dress and accepted the Award in the black corset (part of the dress)

Anna Wintour Mix Up:

Gaga told the crowd at the awards show she found out about her win through a text message from Vogue’s Anna Wintour. Mistaking Wintour for another Anna in her phone, she texted back that she wrote back, “Yes, b*tch, we did it!” Wintour replied, “How lovely.”

But if Gaga’s text etiquette was a little lacking, her sentimental acceptance speech wasn’t. In it, she thanks her fans and fashion for the award.

“I just wanted to tell you how much this award means to young American people,” she said. “My fans, some of them don’t know who they are and they have so much trouble. They come to the Monster Ball to find who they are and they wake up in the morning and it’s that leather jacket that makes them feel like they can be anyone. Or it’s that YSL blazer that they saw in the window that makes them feel like they could be president one day. Fashion means so much to them. It’s really hard to talk about … I always felt like I had made it before I had made it because of all of you, because it was all of you that made me feel like I was a star.”

Halway through the ceremony and Gaga ditched the theatrical skirt, to accept her award on-stage in just the corset and heels
