Dior Menswear Spring 2013

Blue season has begun at Dior. Exciting. The Spring Sadness must have overwhelmed the Artistic Director of Dior Homme, Kris Van Assche. The collection is great. The bitterness of spring and the sadness of the earliest blooming of the first flower is captured within the twenty looks above. There is a cool breezy swaying from model to model, from look to look. It is a welcoming invitation and it is subtle among the crowd. I would wear each and every piece.  I love the red laces and the blue. I get a glimpse of Shakespearian tragic hero when I click on each picture. Perhaps the ghost of Hamlet's father is a fan of Dior. Who isn't? And Kris Van Assche doesn't look too bad either. :)
Happy Holidays.

Kris Van Assche! I love this guy. Check out his on line!

24 Hours with William Ard

6:30 am: I wake up at this Monday through Thursday. Friday I wake up at 7 am and on the weekends it is 10. I need atleast 8 hours on the weekend for me to fully enjoy it. I wake up and do my daily routine, get out of my bed, which is hard to do and prepare myself and begin the day. I have an idea of what i will wear the next morning before i sleep, but i usually chose my outift in the moment. Im quick in the morning. I dont need much time. I run to my closet where nearly all my jeans are assorted by color, designer and season. My jackets, shoes, coats and outerwear are on racks in a guest room. I most often wear dark wash jeans or chinos with a button down followed by a sweater. I have over 40 pairs of pants and nearly 30 sweaters. From all designers, mostly French and Italian. Recently I have really into Moschino, Raf Simons, Coming Soon and Diesel, who has always been a close friend. I wear sneakers everyday, ranging from whore converse high tops to Puma Alexander McQueen to Y-3 to Moschino. Accesories are laid out on a dresser. I go with an Emporio Armani or Montblanc watch during the week and either Hermes or Gucci bracelts. I feel naked without something around my wrist. I never am fully dressed without some sprays from a favorited cologne. I get nearly all my colognes from gifts. My friends know I like to smell good. Now I am usually wearing Versace Man, Emporio Armani or Calvin Klein Eternity. On the weekends I wear Gucci Guilty. It's the sexiest cologne there is. Smelling good automatically increases your appeal. I take my bag with me. Either an Emporio Armani or Louis Vuitton messenger bag on the weekends and grey and black Oakley bag to school. I would shower and meditate in the morning but i do not have enough time.

7 AM: Breakfast is prepared for me by the time I am in the kitchen. I don't have much of an appetite this early but I usually eat the same thing: assorted fruits, strawberry yogurt, bran cereal and the occasional warm indian spiced tea. It soothing. And always accompanied by a chocolate biscotti. My first one of the day.

7:30: I arrive to school by car and am in class right before the bell rings. I have a Italian, German or Economics first. Given my special ability to learn languages, I don't mind my academic morning.

10:30 I often bring a lunch but sometimes buy a sandwich or salad from my school. I try to eat something light and drink two or three bottles of water throughout the day. Being hydrated is important and it instantly improves your skin tone. I people watch during lunch and am searching for inspirations. My school is great for that. All sorts of styles are combined and the outfits are incredible. Studs, leather, pearls, Prada, Marc Jacobs and Michael Kors are big.

2:15 school is out and I am one of the first to leave. When I am home, my day my day begins. I am checking emails and responding. If I have an event in the evening that I have to go to, I focus on that: what I will wear, what I will bring and who I will go with. I also entertain a lot. I entertain evening parties usually once a month, ranging guests from 10-60 people. During the next hour is when I am working on my schedule and college work. My friends often call me to make plans, book future outings or am calling for advice or to tell me to check out a new collection. It's usually street fashion talk. Most of my friends and I love music and literature and are discussing these topics as well.

4:00 pm: I am out of the house, I get a coffee and usually head to the mall or meet with a friend to discuss new products and trends we feel will be coming up. For my friends in photography and In art, we are working on the portfolio or for local inspirations. Well, throughout my whole day i am searching for inspirations. There's a spectacular mall near to me that I always go to. High fashion and executive style from the people. Once there, I am speaking with associates about new products, trends and upcoming excitements. Recently I have been in Burberry and Louis Vuitton and have been exposed to new items. Very exciting. I usually buy one or two things a week, anything from a nice button down Ralph Lauren shirt to a pair of Joe's from Saks. I have a light snack now to keep my energy high. Usually an apple or if it's the weekend, it's another chocolate biscotti.

6:00 pm. My work is complete an now have the evening to enjoy. I go to the gym during this time because I enjoy the motivating feeling of all the other people working on their fitness. It's a upbeat energy. I workout for an hour or so and am running or doing some sort of cardio. Yoga has always been a popular pastime for me. If I have an event to go to, I am often getting ready and am on my way.

7:15 pm: I take a steam shower when I am home and get to work on my blog. I am searching through dozens of magazines and online articles and other blogs to spot upcoming designers, new trends, upcoming colors and styles. I am reading up on the biographies of designers and fashion houses. My favorite fashion magazine is Harpers Bazaar. Infact, it is the only fashion magazine I am currently subscribed too. I am a true academic when it comes to fashion. I am scanning for new models and calling all my friends in search of their opinion. I have great fashion books as well. I am surrounded by inspiration all day. My friends know fashion.

10:00 pm: my blog entry is either finished or near completion and my mind is starting to relax. I often read at this time. I read everything but mostly fiction and poetry. I am obsessed with Rainer Maria Rilke and his outlooks on life, love, death, family and loneliness. I also am a Shakespeare fanatic.

11:00 pm: I am studying for tests and listening to music. On my iPod is Florence and the Machine, Mumford & Sons, Miranda Lambert, Coldplay and Lady Gaga. I eat a third chocolate biscotti. The night is my inspiration. It's full of mystery.

11:30 pm: I am in the bath and finally have reached some peace of mind. For me, a warm bath is not only soothing and peaceful, but it's my opportunity to meditate. I add in some lavender oil. I am usually in the bath for a half hour up to an hour. I use a great Diesel gel douche and recommended facial products: Armani, YSL or Versace. If I have gone out, I will usually be arriving home this time of night.

Midnight: I am in bed just before midnight. My room is like a loft; it is comfortable and its my own sacred space. I wear the same design of shirts to bed every night. A Lacoste or Diesel tee. Last night I wore a red Us Open Lacoste tee a friend gave me. I'm also wearing Diesel, G-Star or Calvin Klein briefs to bed. They're comfortable. With some luck I am asleep soon after midnight and am dreaming about future vacations.

Chanel Spring 2013: High Class Trash

Chanel Spring 2013 did absolutely nothing for me. I did not think and I did not have any sort of fantasy. There was nothing that moved me. What has happened? Was it just an off day or is this some sort of new establishment? Should I be expecting work like this from now on? I'm worried. The details do not excite me in any way and the poor way the clothes fit the models make the apparel look sloppy. The finished look is a mess. Also, the pearls are getting larger. I have had enough with the statement jewelry. I am hoping that this is some of my least favorite work for the year. Let's move on to Louis Vuitton. I did happen to like the grey jacket though. But overall, what was Karl + team thinking?
 No me gusta nada.

Hairstyle Trends: 2013

Hello everyone! So around the corner is the New Year and with 2013, many exciting things will come. I have a feeling that it will be a snowy winter here in the New York area but who can tell. I hope all my American readers had a Happy Thanksgiving. I had a great time at a beautiful restaurant off the water in New Jersey with all my family. As I have been following more anticipated trends, I feel a large need to share the upcoming trend in hairstyles. Here are the hairstyles I like the best and believe will be the most popular come the next few weeks. Thanks to Harpers Bazaar for the looks!
                  Making the braid:
The first is the  Balmain exposed this look in the latest collection. The braid is tight but is not too restricted and there is room for movement on the top and sides. The relaxed braid is becoming big! I expect it to be really popular starting early spring.
 Rock n Roll waves:
The wavy look creates a sexy and intensive look and draws immediate attention to the face. It is a fun way to look great going out and adds a gentleness to the face.
The low pony:
The hair is collected into a low ponytail, pulling back the hair from the face and creating a neat, classy look. The hair on the side and from the bangs can be pulled and tucked behind the ear. Tip: Grab a nude color for a classy look or colorful for a fun, daytime look

Tying the knot:
The tight knot creates an intense look and an attention grabber. The face is instantly the focus. The ballerina knot will be a popular evening look. This look is the hardest to pull off and there will most likely be a difficult transition from the runway to fashionistas. This look elongates and accentuates the facial features. Lucky are those with high cheek bones!

Tom Ford: Class or Trash?

Check out the racy advertisements from the Tom Ford campaigns. Tom Ford has always been pushing the levels of sexuality in his campaigns since the beginning of his career. However, critics often refer to these ads as trashy and incompetent in expressing a classy attitude. But is fashion not all revolved around sex? For me, Tom Ford is the classiest man in fashion and no matter what he does, it is gold. The campaigns are only getting sexier and sexier, drawing more attention and increased reviews. Hey, Tom Ford designed and dressed James Bond. What more to say?
Tom Ford is the James Bond of the fashion world.
